ANTEAOUS REDUX BY ZEBES N DEX

ANTEAOUS…

The character is actually an ODE to Greek mythology which I am a HUGE fan of. (well mythology PERIOD)
“Antaeus” was the son of Poseidon and he would challenge all comers to a wrestling match. After he won, he would chop off the heads of his defeated opponents and wear the skulls around his neck. His goal was to one day have enough skulls to build a fitting shrine to his father.
He was UNBEATABLE…so long as his feet touched the earth.
Hercules killed him by lifting him in a bear hug and crushing the life out of him.
The story of BK’s finest 4056 AD has a LOT of influences, some, like the character ANTEAOUS are born of mythological influences, however, my goal was to create new GODS on an OLD earth that was about to destroy itself. I hope I can get around to telling the entire story one day, since I have the entire story already outlined. At least if I …ulp..die.. someone can take the challenge because it’s a great and fun story.

I commissioned zebes because he was having a bit of a sale he was charging 40 bux for commissions and at that price, with his level of skill, it was too good to pass up!
He did four characters for me and I think this may have been his favorite one to drawn, I really do. Not because he said so, just because I could feel his enthusiasm through his email I put a few versions here..
The main one is the finish, the first one on the right is a rough he gave me which wasn’t the right idea.. i wanted Anteaous to be looking at the viewer, I wanted quiet POWER.
The second one on the right is one dex drew for me a long time ago..
The last one is Anteaous in the video game world. I designed more than a couple of my characters with wrestling games. The create a wrestler options I feel gives me a chance to really get some of my character concepts across to the artists I use.

I have gotta agree, but ONLY because of the color scheme here..
In my mind the character is pitch black..
his skin is charred, from living deep within the earth for so long…
those tattoos….are actually self inflicted scars.
Make no mistake guys, Anteaous may look cool here, but in my mind he is one EVIL looking dude with enough strength to rip a man apart.
He is called The Dark Metal Demon for a reason.
